Reflection Time

This month was a time of reflection. Reflecting on conversations and service I did in February and what came from the conversations I had with individuals. I was able to have multiple conversations about community, diversity, and what it means to give to others. Sparking the conversation by acknowledging individuals' capabilities and service is how revisioning conversations about diversity happen. My goal has always been to hear and listen to others and their experience within their community in a state like Minnesota. I've learned that people serve within communities not only because they want to or can, but because they have experienced something similar to a cause or have a unique relationship within an organization. It's eye-opening to hear and see others share with me their experience of why they help with nonprofits and organizations within the state. To then welcome me with open arms to get involved and continue the conversation about diversity has been so rewarding this month and is something I will continue to do.

The reason I created my Community Service Initiative, "Let's S.E.E.: Revisioning Conversations about Diversity," was with the sole purpose of supporting, elevating, and empowering others to share what they do within a diverse state like Minnesota and what kind of experiences they have faced personally and with living in Minnesota. One of my goals is to acknowledge individuals to have a seat not only at my table but at Minnesota's table as well.
