Sponsors’s
Let's talk about sponsors! This November, I have worked diligently to connect with businesses and brands. Whether it is health-related or C.S.I. related, I wanted to find people I feel connected to. When I say "connected," I mean building a relationship with people who support me, more than just on the surface. Honing in on what makes them and their business unique and what I can offer them. If a brand or business is going to partner/sponsor me, what can I do for them in return? It was and still is essential for me to build advertisements, in-person interactions, and advocating for what they're doing for me and others within the Miss America Organization.
There's a misconception of what sponsors or partners are. Individuals assume they are just people who financially help others or give them items because they can or should because it's a good cause. However, this is false; at least, it is for me. It is more than just a check or a material item being donated or gifted. It is a two-way relationship between them helping me, financially or with a thing I can use. Sharing my personal experience of what they are doing for me and others along this journey. Also, giving the time to volunteer and show up for them to sit or work with these individuals in any way they see fit within their business or brand. This goes back to the community service initiative of "Let's S.E.E.: Revisioning the Conversation of Diversity," sharing my experiences with diversity, equity, and inclusion, but also hearing their experiences as well. Believe it or not, most of my sponsors/partners enjoy talking about their experiences within D.E.I. and how they have been able to build on it within their own business or brand. Partnering up together in order to make a more substantial impact on their work. This is why I love what I'm doing, working with people I connect with and how we can support, elevate, and empower (S.E.E.) one another through conversations of our experiences in D.E.I.
